Demographics
There are eight
legislative districts in
Saint Paul. Currently, Payne Avenue Evangelical Free Church is the city’s only
EFC,
and is located in Legislative District 66A. Our team is targeting District
67A, but our vision goes beyond our own district. We would like to
mobilize church planting teams for the remaining six districts of
Saint Paul.
Saint
Paul's total population is approximately 287,000. It is home to 35,000
Asians, 33,000 African Americans, 23,000 Hispanics, 9,000 people of
multi-races, and 3,000 American Indians [U.S. Census 2000].
In
addition, the East Side Review and Pioneer Press reported in December 2003
that an estimated 14,000 Hmong refugees now living in a Buddhist
compound north
|
of Bangkok,
Thailand
will be eligible to apply for
resettlement in the United States. Because
Saint Paul has the largest Hmong population of any U.S. city, we expect
many of these refugees will rejoin relatives in our Saint Paul
neighborhoods.
